BAAGSWe asked our friends at BAAGS (Borders Autism & Asperger’s Group Support) to provide us with a review of how 2015 was for them and they have sent us a rundown of the various events they have hosted across the year.

2015 Review

All at BAAGS would like to say thank you to everyone who has given their support to their members and their cause over the few past months.

February 20th

Ed Goodale Charity Night. BAAGS were delighted to welcome Ed as he performed his own songs in the Golden Lion to continue to raise awareness of the positives of autism and remind people about our Group. The evening also helped to raise funds for the Carer-Van.

April 4th

BAAGS hosted an Autism Awareness & Acceptance Day event featuring bouncy castles, face-painting, craft fair to entertain families throughout the day. The afternoon event was followed by a Gangsters & Molls themed adult night that evening. All at BAAGS were delighted so many attended these activities in aid of the group and are continuing to work to make autism more accepted.

August 3rd

On Bouncy Day, an event funded by Cash for Kids (Borders), BAAGS encouraged families to bring their children and grandchildren to enjoy bouncy castles, face painting and light refreshments, helping to introduce children to each other before starting school after the long summer break – and hopefully making joining a new class less worrying for them if they are greeted at school by a familiar face. The day proved great fun for children and a chance of adult company for the parents, babysitters and grandparents in attendance too.

October 27th

BAAGS hosted a seminar with Dean Beadle and Lynne Moxon on the complexities of Sexuality & Relationships amongst members of the autism community. Dean and Lynne delivered a highly informative but also very humorous seminar which was very well received by representatives of a wide range of organisations involved in supporting and caring for autistic persons.
