Liza Quin of Autism Rocks (Fife) tells us about her organisation:
Autism Rocks (Fife) is a support network which was originally set up as a Facebook support group which has now escalated to greater heights. And the momentum of the group is growing.
Autism Rocks (Fife) is a not for profit organisation founded to provide a safe and supportive environment for children and young adults with additional support needs diagnosed with or presenting symptoms of Autism and related conditions and their support networks in the community through the provision of educational and recreational facilities and activities and, in particular but not exclusively, in furtherance of this purpose, to maintain and develop a purpose-built adventure playground for indoor and outdoor play.
We currently have 209 members in our group and at the moment are a voluntary organisation who are going through the OSCR registration process to become a registered Scottish charity organisation. Within the support group page we have a varied range of parents , carers , professionals and young people who themselves have a diagnosis of Autism / Asperger’s.
We are currently doing many fundraising activities from boot sales to fancy dress walks. And we have our first big fundraising event on 28th June , and have many other events in the pipeline.
